Discipline Over Hype: How We Navigated Bumpy Markets in Q4 2025
It’s easy to stay disciplined when markets are calm. The real test comes when volatility picks up, sentiment shifts, and the pressure builds to either chase what’s been working or panic out of what hasn’t. The last three months of 2025 delivered exactly that kind of test.
In our latest quarterly webinar, our investment team gave a candid account of how we navigated a period where many of the market’s most crowded trades unwound sharply. Our approach — which has always centred on owning quality businesses at reasonable prices and refusing to overpay regardless of market enthusiasm — meant our portfolios weren’t overexposed to the areas that came under the most pressure. Where others had been piling into momentum-driven names at increasingly demanding valuations, we had been methodically trimming positions and locking in gains. That patience and discipline showed up clearly in the results, with both our global and domestic strategies delivering strong performance relative to broader markets.
Our team also addressed how this philosophy extends beyond just selling — it shapes every buy decision too. New additions to the portfolio, from industrial conglomerate Honeywell to positions in European financials and consumer staples, were each selected because we saw quality businesses trading below their long-term worth, not because they were the flavour of the month.
The webinar offers a clear window into how we think about protecting and growing client wealth through uncertain times, and why discipline — not prediction — is the foundation of our approach. Watch the full recording to hear our team explain it in their own words.
